These Terms and Conditions are to be read in conjunction with our Privacy Statement which together govern the agreement between you and Amberley Lodge Limited which comes into existence at the time we accept your booking request.

- by attending in person at Amberley LodgeGuest House (to avoid disappointment we would recommend that a prior booking is made)
Amberley Lodge Guest House, our Southampton Bed and Breakfast will respond as quickly as reasonably possible. Unless you use our online request form, all booking requests should be accompanied by your credit card details. In this respect, please note under "Payment" the cards that we accept.
Please note that unless our Bed and Breakfast indicate to you otherwise, no booking shall be taken as confirmed unless a written confirmation has been sent to you.
Our Southampton B&B offer you the following for your breakfast:
Tea or cafetiere made coffee (we filter our water)
Choice of five cereals
Traditional English breakfast with bacon, sausage, cooked tomatoes, baked beans, mushrooms and free range eggs.
You can have your eggs, fried, scrambled, poached or boiled
Toasts of white or brown bread
A selection of jams, marmite, butter and vegetable spread
If you are vegetarian or have special eating requirements/allergies
kindly inform us when making your booking and we will endeavor to meet your needs.
At our Southampton B&B we serve breakfast in our dining room during the following time:
Monday to Friday - 7.30am to 9.00am (last sitting 8.45)
Saturday and Sunday - 8.00am - 9.00am (last sitting 8.45)
Due to the need to focus on preparing and cleaning guest accommodation, no breakfast will be served by our B&B
later than the stipulated times unless specifically agreed in advance
Those wishing to have breakfast earlier than the stipulated times should make this known at the time of booking. We can provide a take away breakfast with sandwiches, fruits, water and biscuits.
We need at least 48 hours cancellation notice for B&B bookings less than a week long.
If we receive no such notice, one night of the booking will be charged in the event that we are not able to fill the room/rooms for bookings less than a week long.
Self catering bookings, 7 day cancellation period is required.
In the event of a third party (eg: a company, a university, a hospital or an agency) requesting a booking on behalf of the guest and our confirming our agreement to that request, our contract will be with that third party and accordingly these provisions shall be binding on that third party as principle debtor.
Check in/check Out Times/Charges at our Southampton B&B
Check in is any time between 2pm and 8pm on the date of your arrival
Check out time is 10am on your date of departure save in the case of Saturday and Sunday when it is 10.30am
Any variation to these times must be previously arranged and agreed between yourself and our B&B
Charges - . Special rates may be agreed by our Southampton B&B according to the nature of the booking, length of time stayed with us etc - for further details please contact us.
Charges are calculated having regard to the room type and the number of persons occupying a room.
Once checked in, the applicable daily rate of charge per day of your stay at our Southampton B&B will apply irrespective of the number of hours in a day when the room is occupied by you
Children visiting our Southampton Bed and Breakfast
At our Southampton B&B we welcome children but would ask you to note the following:
- At Amberley Lodge Guest House we do not have child beds or cots - save in the case of parents/guardians providing their own cot, a child will occupy an adult bed and the room rate applicable will depend on the age of the child
- We expect Parents/guardians to be responsible for the supervision of their children at all times;
At our discretion, at our Southampton B&B we may take a deposit in an amount which is equal to the room rate for one night per week of your booking is payable when your booking is confirmed.
We respect your privacy. You are not obliged to advise us of any disability you may have, but it can help us to make your stay at our Southampton B&B more pleasant if you advise us in confidence at the time of making your booking request or subsequently, of any disability that you may have.
At our B&B in Southampton we reserve the right to request that you vacate your room without entitlement to compensation and immediately in the event that either we or other guests reasonably complain of your behaviour or that of those staying with you or for whom you are responsible eg: excessive noise when others are trying to sleep.
Room availability and related facilities
At our Southampton B&B we do not guarantee that the room we confirm as being booked will be available at all times during your stay. There may be circumstances beyond our reasonable control (eg: burst pipes, power failure) which prevent us from giving/continuing to give, you the room you have booked and the facilities normally comprised therein. In the event of such a circumstance, our Bed and Breakfast will use its best endeavours to provide you with a room which is similar to and/or which has similar facilities, to the room you have booked. In the event that we are unable to do so, you will only be liable to pay us for the nights you have stayed.
At Amberley Lodge Guest House under no circumstances may rooms be occupied by more than the number of persons who we have agreed to accept as permitted to occupy the particular room. For reasons of safety, security and insurance, the only persons permitted to occupy a room are those whose names we have accepted as part of the booking. Subject thereto, no other third party guests, relatives or friends may share the facilities provided
At our Southampton Bed and Breakfast, we endeavour to maintain our televisions and related wiring/aerials in good condition but occasionally, for reasons beyond our control, the same may fail. In such circumstances, we will use our best endeavours to remedy the problem as quickly as reasonably possible but we do not guarantee that a television will be viewable at all times during your stay.
Occasionally, due to shortages of a particular product, it may not be possible to keep to our menu, in which case we will use our best endeavours to provide a substitute which is reasonably similar. Please advise us in advance of your stay with us or as soon as reasonably possible after your arrival if you have any food allergies. You should assume that all our breakfast products may contain nut traces.
Limited car parking is available for guests on a "first come first served" basis. We cannot guarantee the availability of car parking. There is off street car parking in the immediate vicinity to supplement that existing at Amberley Lodge Guest House. Those parking cars at our Southampton B&B do so at their own risk and no liability is accepted by us. Vehicles not removed following a period of stay will be removed without notice to the driver / owner and at their sole cost.
If cars are left during the days as well as during the night, a charge of £3 per day will apply in addition to the room cost
Guests at our Southampton Bed and Breakfast are provided with a front door key and a key to their room. An administrative charge of £50 will be made in the event of a key being lost. Please ensure all keys are returned to Amberley Guest House on or before departure. Keys not so handed in, will be treated as having been lost.
Receipt of Post at our Southampton Bed and Breakfast
We may in our absolute discretion permit the delivery of a guest's private post to Amberley Lodge Guest House. The receipt of private post will be subject to such requirements and administration charges as we may, from time to time, stipulate. Any permission given by our B&B may be revoked by us at any time and without reason. We shall in any event have no liability to you or any third party for any post that may, for whatsoever reason, fail to reach you notwithstanding that the same may be shown to have been delivered to Amberley Lodge Guest House, our Southampton B&B.
Food on Premises at our Southampton Bed and Breakfast
For reasons of cleanliness and hygiene, at our B&B we do not permit the eating of meals in guest's rooms or anywhere else within the building and its boundaries. We may in our discretion permit guests to use the dining room of our Southampton Bed and Breakfast in the evening to eat food purchased by themselves and brought back to the premises. This will be subject to guests using cutlery and dishes provided by our B&B and tidying up after themselves using a rubbish bin provided. At our B&B we are happy to wash up the dishes for you. In our discretion, guests may at their sole risk, use the communal microwave and fridge located in the dining room of our Bed and Breakfast.
Your liability to us:
DUE TO RECENT BAD EXPERIENCES OUR POLICY HAS NOW CHANGED AS FOLLOWS:
For booking of less then a week on a B&B basis only
-The first night of your stay will be taken when you book.
- Balance of payment is due on the day of your arrival at our B&B in respect of the period of your stay.
-If you stay one night only the full payment will be taken when you book.
-Booking for 1 night only cost £5 extra compared with bookings for 2 or more nights.
We do not accepy payment by cheque
Payment by debit cards have no additional charges
Payment by Credit Cards have a charge of 2%
-For long term bookings, one week payment is due when you book and the balance for the period is due on your arrival unless otherwise agreed between the parties.
In the event that you or those staying with you at our Bed and Breakfast or for whom you are responsible, cause damage to any part of the building at our B&B, your room or any facilities serving either, you will be charged the full cost of repairing and making good (or if such is not possible, replacing with new) the item or items damaged. If you become aware of any damage casused at our B&B, we strongly recommend that you advise us of the same as soon as reasonably possible since this will enable us to discuss with you how best to resolve the difficulty.
Our liability to you:
The goal at our Southampton Bed and Breakfast is to provide you with good quality, clean accommodation, accompanied by a hearty breakfast, all of which represents "value for money".
Except in case of any death or personal injury suffered by a guest staying at our B&B as a result of our negligence as defined in Section 1 of the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977, we shall not incur any liability of any kind or nature whether in contract or tort or otherwise howsoever caused for any damage, loss, liability or expenses suffered or incurred by our guests or any other person arising directly indirectly or in any manner whatsoever out of the goods, services or facilities provided by us.
In any event, and notwithstanding anything contained in these Terms and Conditions our liability in contract, tort (including negligence or breach of statutory duty) or otherwise arising by reason of or in connection with the goods or services provided by us (except in relation to death or personal injury caused to a guest by our negligence) shall be limited to a refund equal to the room rate x the number of nights stayed at our B&B or long term accomodation in one single continuous stay.
No Smoking policy at our Southampton Bed and Breakfast
For reasons of health and safety, at Amberley Lodge Guest House, our Southampton Bed and Breakfast we have a strict no-smoking policy on any part of the premises. Persons wishing to smoke may do so outside our B&B in such location as we might designate.
Accepted methods of payment
When you stop with us for a short or a long period, on a B&B or self-catering basis we accept the following way of payment:
- credit/debit card - mastercard, visa, electron, solo
Please note that 2% will be added to your credit card payments to compensate for the commission charged by the credit card companies to us.
Any deposit previously paid will, subject to any Liability you may have to our B&B (see above), be offset against the final amount of your account.
Pets policy at our Southampton Bed and Breakfast
The facilities at Amberley Lodge B&B are not suitable for pets and therefore, save only in the case of any guest who is a registered blind person accompanied by a trained guide dog, pets cannot be accepted.
Safety policy at our Southampton Bed and Breakfast
At our B&B in Southampton we are committed to your safety. Fire alarms and hard wired smoke detectors and clearly marked fire exits are to be found in each corridor and room. The emergency lighting are also in place In case of fire, please sound the alarm if it is safe to do so only and use the nearest fire exit. All persons exiting the building should gather at the assembly point at the front of the building. Tampering in any way with any safety feature will be treated as a fundamental breach of these terms and conditions entitling our B&B to request that you vacate your room immediately and without compensation from us.
Jurisdiction and Applicable law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and each party agrees to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts with regard to any claim or matter arising in connection with the same
Amberley Lodge Guest House, our Southampton Bed and Breakfast, is managed and run by Amberley Lodge Limited (Company Registration No' 3986840). It is a family business, the directors being Peter and Eliana Welburn. The Registered office is 1 Howard Road, Southampton, SO15 5BB.
This privacy statement should be read in conjunction with our B&B Terms and Conditions.
Your right to privacy is important to us.
The purpose of this statement is to explain what information we collect at our B&B about you, why we collect it and how we may use it.
At our Southampton B&B we are fully registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and ensure that we comply with all protection the Act affords to you. Further information on the Act is on the Internet at www.dataprotection.gov.uk . or www.dti.gov.uk .
You have a right to know what data our Southampton B&B hold about you. For details please send a stamped addressed envelope together with your remittance in the sum of Â£10.00 to cover our administrative expenses. To ensure that your details are not sent to an unauthorised person, when requesting your details please send to our Southampton B&B the original of a utility bill (eg: telephone, gas, electricity) bearing your home address. This will be returned to you along with your details.
You may, at any time by notice in writing to our Southampton B&B request that we delete all data in our possession concerning yourself and/or that we do not use any such data for future marketing purposes. Our B&B will as soon as reasonably possible comply with such a request and all data (save any that may be properly required to be retained by law) will be deleted.
What information do we collect At our Southampton Bed and Breakfast?
At our Southampton B&B we may collect two basic types of information:
- Personally identifying information eg: name, address, email address, mobile telephone number;
- Non-personally identifying information eg: when you visit our B&B web site we may record the pages you browse by the use of "cookies" (see further below)
If you seek to book accommodation online at our Southampton B&B, we ask you to give us your name, email address, mobile telephone number and other personal information that will be needed to supply our B&B services to you. The provision of this information also enables us to respond more efficiently to any enquiries or complaints you may have.
In the interests of mutual security, our Southampton B&B may use CCTV facilities to the exterior and interior common areas of Amberley Lodge Guest House. The information retained on tape will be kept no longer than is reasonably necessary having regard to the purpose for which it was collected.
How do we use your information at our B&B in Southampton?
The information you give our B&B is used in a variety of ways, including:
- to confirm your booking at our Southampton Bed and Breakfast;
- to promote and advertise new services provided by our B&B or promotions to you;
